Born and raised in Brown County, Ian spent many years working in concrete with his father and helping out at the family farm in Rushville, Indiana.
He received his degree in outdoor recreation management from Ball State University. After two years working in park systems in Indiana and Colorado, Ian joined the Peace Corps. He was assigned to Vanuatu in the South Pacific where he worked with local people to develop better plans for agriculture and utilize their native skills to better provide for themselves.
Upon returning home, Ian became a partner in the concrete business started by his father, Doug, in 1980. Additionally, Ian studied decorative concrete, adding custom counter and bar tops, sinks, and artistic pieces to their menu of services. Doug has since retired and Ian has taken over as full owner and operator.
Ian has remained involved with the community, working with Mission 22, The Brown County Library, local artists and was named 2017 Habitat for Humanity Volunteer of the Year.
Ian lives in Bloomington with his wife, Jill, their one year-old daughter and two dogs.
